Watts was born 28 September 1968. After her family moved to Australia, she made
her film debut in the film For Love Alone (1986) and later appeared in three
television series, Hey Dad.. (1990), Brides of Christ (1991) and Home and Away
(1991), and the film Flirting (1991). Watts was a failed actress when she first
came to the United States. She acted in films with a small budget and then was
a professional actress. Her rise to fame on the international stage was spurred
by the part. Watts was later in the role of a tortured journalist in The Ring
(2002). In her role as grieving mother in Alejandro film 21 Grams, she was
nominated to win an Academy Award for Best Actress. She continued to rise in
popularity with parts in I Heart Huckabees (2004) and King Kong (2005) as well
as Eastern Promises (2007) and The International (2009). Watts was nominated
for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her part in The Impossible (2012) as
Maria Bennett. She appeared in films, such as Birdman (2014) St. Vincent (2014)
and While We're Young (2015). Watts kept her acting career going with film
roles that were blockbusters, like in Divergent (2015-2016).
