Robin Gayle
Robin Gayle Wright was born in Dallas,
Texas, to Gayle (Gaston) and was an executive director for national operations
at Mary Kay, and Freddie Wright who was a pharmaceutical executive. She was
raised in San Diego. Her professional career began as a model in 1980 aged 14
and worked both in Paris as well as Japan. When she graduated from high school
she began acting. She was offered a role on the soap opera Santa Barbara
(1984), and was nominated for three Daytime Emmy Awards. In the first season
the show, she began to fall in love with co-star Dane Witherspoon, whom she
married in 1986. She also appeared in The Princess Bride (1987) in the title
role. She was in the role of Santa Barbara but left to appear in Denial (1990)
alongside Jason Patric. She was also in State of Grace (1990) at the time she
got to know Sean Penn. They had daughters Dylan Frances and a son Hopper Jack.
After a short break, Robin was back to Hollywood with one the best role of her
career: She played Tara in The Playboys (1992). She was extremely stunning and
brilliant. She was in Toys (1992) which was which was a comedy starring Robin
Williams. It was hilarious. Wright played the role of Jenny in the blockbuster
hit Forrest Gump (1994), in the lead role with Tom Hanks. Wright received a
nomination for the Golden Globe Award in recognition of her performance as
Jenny. She was offered a minor part in The Crossing Guard (1995), with Jack
Nicholson. After being rejected for 14 roles, she was offered the title part in
MGM/UA's Moll Flanders (1996). It was directed and written by Pen Densham and
featured Morgan Freeman, Stockard Channing, and Morgan Freeman. She then
starred alongside William Hurt in Erin Dignam’s Loved (1997).
