Maureen O'Hara Biography

Maureen O'Hara is a famous American actress and singer who are both of Irish origin. The passionate, fiery role she played in numerous American films was what attracted attention to the beautiful green eyed beauty. Her stunning look and natural beauty were well-received. The actress was known in Hollywood as the "Queen of Technicolor". The characters she played on screen reflected her strong, brave spirit that fought to be recognized and a part of the male-dominated society. She referred to herself as "the tough Irish lass" and she would not be willing to sacrifice respect for others to get the roles she was entitled to due to merit. In her time in the world of film she was always vocal against discrimination and unfair treatment against female actors. For this, she earned lots of admirers. The autobiography she wrote, "Tis herself", was published in 2004 and provided an honest story of her entire life and the challenges she faced to climb the ladder to achieve success. She was an adventurous person who didn't hesitate to attempt herself at her own tricks. She appeared in more than 60 films in the past and was the recipient of a fair amount of international recognition. Following her departure from Parra, she remarried again in the year 1968 to Charles F. Blair Jr. who was a brigadier in the past and chief pilot and a pioneer in transatlantic aviation, just to mention just a few of her accomplishments. O'Hara was retired a couple of years after they got married. Blair, however, was killed in a tragic crash on a plane in 1978. O'Hara's happiness was short-lived. In the same year she was also diagnosed as having uterine cancer and had to undergo an immediate operation. She later recovered. The following years her health deteriorated and she suffered from six heart attacks, short-term memory loss and type 2 diabetes mellitus. On 24 October 2015, O'Hara died peacefully at Boise, Idaho, from natural causes at 95.
